A great coming out story. I was immediately reminded of “Conduct Unbecoming” by Randy Shilts in the 1980s and the struggle to come out by members of the US military. Luckily, sounds like, you had a fairly easy time but it must have been so difficult living like that. Hiding the essence of who you are. Thanks for sharing.
