I figure it’s time to share a little bit more about who I am, than just the little blurb under my name.
I was in broadcast news media since 1979 and retired on April 18, 2022.
I was a radio and TV reporter and news anchor and for the last 28 years of my career I was a TV news writer/producer, in a senior role since 1997.
In 2008 at the age of 47 I travelled to Africa and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. It was a life changing experience and was definitely an adventure as I had never done anything like that before. It became a lesson in perseverance when I became extremely sick with food poisoning on the first day of the trek and which continued for a few days. But I still reached the summit.
In 2010 I sold everything, quit my job and began travelling to see as much of the world as I could before my money ran out.
I travelled about 175,000km (according to TripIt) in 3 continents visiting more towns and cities than I can count.
I took more than 40 flights, 8 trains, numerous bus and car trips, and managed to get over my fear of boats (for the most part) by cruising Kerala’s Backwaters in India, sailing up the Nile in Egypt, and navigating the giant limestone Karsts in Vietnam’s Halong Bay on a Junk, not to mention all the smaller boat trips I made in…
