I figure it’s time to share a little bit more about who I am, than just the little blurb under my name.

I was in broadcast news media since 1979 and retired on April 18, 2022.

I was a radio and TV reporter and news anchor and for the last 28 years of my career I was a TV news writer/producer, in a senior role since 1997.

In 2008 at the age of 47 I travelled to Africa and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. It was a life changing experience and was definitely an adventure as I had never done anything like that before. It became a lesson in perseverance when I became extremely sick with food poisoning on the first day of the trek and which continued for a few days. But I still reached the summit.

In 2010 I sold everything, quit my job and began travelling to see as much of the world as I could before my money ran out.

I travelled about 175,000km (according to TripIt) in 3 continents visiting more towns and cities than I can count.

I took more than 40 flights, 8 trains, numerous bus and car trips, and managed to get over my fear of boats (for the most part) by cruising Kerala’s Backwaters in India, sailing up the Nile in Egypt, and navigating the giant limestone Karsts in Vietnam’s Halong Bay on a Junk, not to mention all the smaller boat trips I made in Croatia, India, Italy and Israel.

I got over my fear of the water by scuba diving in the Red Sea… not once but TWICE, I got over my fear of heights by ziplining in Hawaii and in a hot air balloon over Cappadocia, Turkey.

I got plastered with tomatoes at La Tomatina in Valencia, Spain and I got doused in paint at Holi in Jaipur, India.

I cycled through Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi; spent 3 months in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka; I spent a month in Egypt; and settled in Tel Aviv, Israel for a year and a half which I used as my home base to see more of the Middle East and Europe.

When my money ran out and the 2012–2013 war broke out between Hamas in Gaza and Israel. It was the right time to leave.

I came back to Toronto to start all over again with no money and very few worldly possessions. Luckily my old employer was willing to hire me back as a senior producer, where I remained until my retirement.

Now that I am entering this new chapter of my life, I plan to continue my travels, my writing and my photography as well as taking the time to see more of my family and friends. And I plan to bring you along on this journey.
