The Most Beautiful City in Mexico

No it’s not Cabo San Lucas, Cancun or Puerto Vallarta

You don’t have to take my word for it.

Travel + Leisure magazine has named San Miguel de Allende, Mexico the most beautiful city in the world… for two years in a row. And it’s not alone in that assessment.

I first heard about it a few decades ago when friends discovered San Miguel and all the amazing arts and crafts that made the city famous. I knew back then that I would visit one day.

Time flies and I didn’t get there until this year. In the interim, millions of others have discovered San Miguel. Not only has it become Mexico’s alternative getaway from the beach resorts, but it’s also one of the most popular places for expats to settle in North America. Canadians and Americans flock there every year, some as snowbirds and some to escape the scorching summer heat in the sunbelt. Its climate is as close to perfect as you will find anywhere. Daytime temperatures are in the low-70s to low-80s, almost year-round.
